Mark Zuckerberg’s metadata has been leaked to “a secret information outside the company,” firing about 20 employees, citing a company spokesperson, according to a report in Verge.
“We tell employees when to join the company, and we provide regular reminders that our policies violate our policies regardless of intentions,” Meta spokesman Dave Arnold said in a statement to The Verge.
“We recently conducted a survey that resulted in about 20 employees being terminated to share confidential information outside the company, and we hope there will be more. We take this seriously and continue to act when it comes to identifying the leak,” Arnold added.
Meta has tried to stop leaks in recent months as it implements serious policy changes, including the repeal of company-wide DEI plans and the removal of content reviews on its social media platforms. The company’s efforts to strengthen internal controls appear to prevent details of these changes from becoming public.
Many view these attempts as changes in meta-policy as it attempts to be comfortable with a new administration led by Donald Trump. Sources said Mehta also agreed to pay $25 million to resolve Trump’s lawsuit against the company after suspending his account following the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.
Recently, Zuckerberg shared his frustration after leaking an internal meta-conversation at a meeting – which was eventually leaked and shared by 404 media outlets. “We tried to really open up and then I said everything leaked,” Zuckerberg said.
Other layoffs in Yuan:
Meta recently fired about 3,000 employees or almost 5% of its workforce in the “low performance” layoffs earlier this month. Meanwhile, the company also doubled AI and made Meta AI the highest AI assistant on the market as CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised $65 billion in the space.
