YouTube said it will start taking action against “egregious clickbait” in India where the title and thumbnail do not match the video content.
YouTube gives some examples of videos that violate its policies, such as those that include news about a dying president but have nothing to do with it, or videos that promise updates on breaking news but don’t actually provide such news.
“We are stepping up efforts to address the serious clickbait problem on YouTube. This means we plan to increase enforcement against videos where the title or thumbnail promises something to viewers but the video does not deliver. When the video covers topics such as breaking news or current affairs , this is especially important to ensure that viewers are not misled about the content they are watching on YouTube.

As the Google-owned video platform gives creators more ways to monetize their content, others are trying to attract users by abusing SEO trends and hashtags, using shocking error messages, or trying to use twists to thumbnails to trick the algorithm and thereby manipulate the system.
Others, such as cryptocurrency scammers, also use fake live streams to attract potential victims.
