More than 230,000 households and businesses have no electricity, and flash flooding alerts have been issued for coastal areas following the former tropical cyclone Alfred.
Warning follows heavy rains in southeast Queensland overnight and gathers in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich City Council areas.
Residents were told to stay away from the water or be prepared to leave immediately if the threat worsened.
“If you’re near flooding, as high as possible,” Queensland police said Monday morning.
In northern New South Wales where one person died, rain is falling, roads are kept closed and people are warned not to drive through high water.
About 1,800 people were quarantined by floods and another 18,500 were told they could be quarantined.
Throughout the Northeast, 20,300 people have been informed of evacuation.
Last weekend, some residents were allowed to return home in places like Lismore.
“We have not left the woods yet,” SES ASST COM SEAN KEARNS, NSW, said on Monday.
“The risk of heavy rain expected to continue throughout Monday may only exacerbate that risk.”
When Alfred landed in Queensland on Saturday, Malcolm Drysdale whipped it with “quietly whipped by wet lettuce.”
However, as he treks around flooded waters, Drisdale knew the weather system was filled with powerful impact.
However, after Drysdale moved to Rocklea, a suburb in southern Brisbane, it was flooded due to flooding.
His family is from outside Lismore, New South Wales, which has experienced devastating flooding in 2022.
“My mom went to Richmond River High School because the river turned it into pieces in 2022,” Drisdale said.
“I’m no stranger to floods, and my family is not anyone. The people around Rocklea are the same.”
Drysdale went bankrupt on Saturday as Alfred crossed the coast.
“From the wind, it’s a little bit untrue, it’s kind of like being quietly whipped by wet lettuce,” he said.
But the next night the wind surfaced again, and then more wild weather triggered widespread flooding.
“More trees than I thought of at first,” Dresdale said as he wading in the high water.
“It’s always flooding here…but sometimes it does get a little furry.”

Residents of Hervey Bay in northern Brisbane were told to stay inside in an emergency statement for hours after falling in nearly 250 mm of rain, triggering flash flooding.
Part of the Gold Coast received an emergency warning later Sunday, with the community being told to “take action now” and stay away from the road.
Over the weekend, about 30 rescues were conducted in southeastern and northern Queensland.
But some people are not lucky. The body of a 61-year-old man was found in a flood in Megan near Dorigo, New South Wales on Friday.
Meanwhile, 13 soldiers were injured after a truck rolled around Lismore on Saturday. A person is still in a stable state in the hospital.
Defense Secretary Richard Marles said the accident was being investigated.
