Volkswagen currently has three models on sale, of which Virtus and Taigun are targeted at the mass market. Both models are based on the MQB A0 IN platform and share most components, including engines, gearboxes, functions, etc. Virtus recently crossed the 50,000-unit sales milestone, making it the most successful compact sedan on sale. Last month, the automaker sold 2,351 Virtus units, a 32% increase from the same period last year.
The Taigun, on the other hand, did well but was overshadowed by stiffer competition in the segment such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others. Volkswagen’s overall sales increased by 9% in October this year.

Volkswagen is yet to launch a new model, although its sister company Skoda Auto India recently launched the Kylaq small SUV at a staggering price. $7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Skoda Kylaq could be a game-changer for the brand and bring much-needed sales to the company.
