Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra conducted sanitation checks in various bathing ghats in the city ahead of the Sivaratri Festival Celebtrations on Wednesday.

After inspecting Punnami Ghat, Krishnaveni Ghat, Bhavani Ghat and Durga Ghat, Mr Dhyanachandra directed officials to ensure that sanitation facilities are properly maintained during the festival, as many devotees are expected to visit Ghat in large quantities for large quantities of visits to Ghat.

The Commissioner said that in addition to maintaining sanitation facilities, officials should also arrange for drinking water bags to dedicators and provide temporary toilets and trash cans to dedicators if necessary.

When the Kanaka Durga Temple authorities were taking care of the arrangements of Durga and Krishnaveni Ghatt, the arrangements for Punnami and Bhavani Ghatt were subject to the scope of the VMC.

VMC is building 16 temporary toilets and medical camps. It is expected that about 100,000 devotees will attend the Sivaratri Music Festival in the city on February 26.

Zonal Commissioner Ramya Keerthana, chief urban planner GVGSV Prasad, chief health officer Suresh Babu, and other VMC officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
