There are very few things that directors Anurag Kashyap and Vivek Agnihotri publicly agree. In the relative aspect of the political and ideological divide, the two filmmakers have now found a common foundation-Hindi cinema. A few weeks ago, director Anurag Kashyap announced Bollywood is doomed to fail and is now the director of archives at Kashmir Vivek Agnihotri Similar sentiments have been responded to. Vivek wrote a long record on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the decline in Bollywood while pointing out the reasons for the industry to get into chaos. In this post, Vivek slams directors and producers for succumbing to the company’s greed and accepts that Bollywood has no promising newbie.
“Bollywood is falling”
Vivke Agnihotri wrote in his comments:Bollywood is falling – this is the best thing. Bollywood is in chaos. This is good for the industry. To build a new building, you have to demolish the old building. This is that time. Today, Bollywood has few independent producers. There are no new producers. No new ideas. There are no innovative distribution or marketing strategies. A few years ago, there were twelve studios – now there are only two or three studios left, and they are also monopolistic for reasons other than filmmaking. The passion for film has been replaced by company greed and agenda-driven content. ”

“There is no hope”
Vivek commented on the trend of re-releases, and shared, “No movies – that’s why old movies are crazy about being released. Most directors who could have made a difference in these critical periods give up and succumb to OTT. For the film business to survive, star actors are crucial. But new stars without hope. If you want to project someone from the age group of 21-35, you hardly find out – heroes aren’t heroines either. There are few people who don’t speak Hindi, can’t express it, and seem to be more interested in Instagram than their craft. And, not achieving much, they bring entourages – managers, social media teams, trainers, etc.”

“Box office has become a scam”
He also added: “If you choose to play an unknown outsider actor (like me), you will not have the opportunity to get funding, distribution or marketing. This box officeonce the final test of the film, has now become Scam Office. You can post any number, give away free tickets, arrange company bookings, manipulate BookMyshow – do whatever you want. This is a free one. Everyone screamed at the box office numbers, but their movies had nothing to say. There are no real critics, no real movie magazines or tabloids. Anyone can pay and get any written. As always, Bollywood has chosen a simple way out: manipulation and corruption. ”
“Ironically? The powerful people who created this corrupt Chakravyuh are now playing the victims. The monsters they built are ready to swallow. I’m glad. I hope it will do so. I hope it will devour them so they can reincarnate – this time a pure film creator, not a monster maker. The team we work with Delhi files is filled with small towns, vernacular boys and girls. Many of them will succeed and make great movies – provided that the monsters devour this ancient, broken and extremely corrupt system. If you’re a middle-class, little young storyteller willing to sacrifice for your craft, that’s your time. Yes. This is time. Come. Let’s build a new Hindi film industry. Otherwise, change Bollywood Name is Instawood,” his notes concluded.
On the job side, Vivik’s last film was the Vaccine War, which was released in 2023. His next Delhi Document: Bangladesh Chapter will be released on August 15 this year.
