Usha Vance’s great-aunt Shantamma shows pride, says ‘she is in our genes’

As Donald Trump wins the 2024 US presidential election, Vice President-elect JD Vance holds a special place in India because of his wife Usha.
After Trump’s victory, Usha’s aunt Shantama expressed her joy and pride. “It’s a happy moment for the family because she belongs in our genes,” the nonagenarian said, adding, “I feel happier because she belongs in my family.”

When asked if she had anything to say to Usha and the Trump-Vance duo, she said they have to “start thinking about other countries” and when it comes to India, what they should do for the country Some “positive good things.”

She said that she got to know JD from seeing interviews with him and knew that JD valued Usha’s opinion and was glad that he consulted his wife’s opinion since they were both lawyers.

Shantama is related by marriage to Usha. Usha’s father was the youngest son of Santama’s husband’s brother.

Shantama also said that as the wife of the US Vice President, she said that the Trump administration should do something to help those who went abroad return to India. She believes there should be laws allowing them to return to their home countries.

“I want to see the resurgence of Indian intellectuals. All (Indian) intellectuals have been driven out of India… Now let’s see some rules put in place so that these intellectuals don’t get filtered out of India.

India should have its own beauty, its own wisdom… India has great scholars,” she said.

She also said that the “sacred culture” of Sanskrit is the way forward. “What can bring it back is Sanskrit. Nothing else,” she added. “Let people understand Sanskrit because it has a lot of importance and influence. We can see this in the ancient temples (here).” a little.

Usha Vance is the first Indian-American and the first Hindu to serve as second lady. Usha is of Telugu descent and her parents immigrated to the United States from undivided Andhra Pradesh in the early 1980s, making her a first-generation Indian-American.

When Trump’s victory was announced, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sent a congratulatory message to JD and Usha Vance on X.
