According to media reports, a federal judge ordered the U.S. government on Thursday to reverse the massive shooting of Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s plan to cut part of the government’s workforce.
The ruling directed the Office of Personnel Management to withdraw directives sent to many federal agencies, resulting in the firing of thousands of employees.
According to the Washington Post, “The Office of Personnel Management does not have any authority under any regulations in the history of the universe to hire and fire employees at another agency.”
“Congress has granted the agency itself the hiring and firing fire. For example, the Department of Defense has the statutory authority to hire and fire,” he said in a federal court in San Francisco.
The ruling is the latest legal blow to Trump’s efforts to get the U.S. government’s heels.
A few days later, another magistrate on the West Coast blocked his ban on refugee enrollment.
Thursday’s ruling comes after unions and advocacy groups sued what they said was illegal orders, and federal agencies fired all probation officers.
During the first or second year of work, federal workers are considered probationary, even if they are promoted from lower positions.
Thousands of people are affected by orders.
“OPM is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the country’s employment laws, and a troubled strait has become one of the greatest employment frauds in the country’s history,” a plaintiff’s legal application said.
“The OPM lacks constitutional, statutory or regulatory authority to order other federal agencies to terminate employees authorized by Congress to employ and manage these agencies,” the lawyer said.
