Two doctors at UPHC, Uppiliyapuram

Two doctors were posted to the 24-hour Upgraded Primary Health Center (UPHC) in Thuraiyur taluk’s Uppiliyapuram block on Thursday, after severe staff shortage for several months left the center with just one doctor. UPHC once had seven doctors but faces a shortage of doctors due to retirements and transfers.

Staffing issues at Uppiliyapuram UPHC highlighted hinduism November 4th.

Ministry of Health sources acknowledged the move was a short-term measure and stressed that while the addition of two doctors would relieve some pressure, four positions would remain vacant. A health department source said: “Sending two doctors is a welcome step but permanently filling all due vacancies is vital to ensuring continued effective healthcare.”
