In his opening remarks, Trump said the rare mineral program he planned to deal with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday “will really get us into this country.” Trump’s view of the Ukrainian president seems to be a little soft.
When reporters asked about Trump’s use of the term “dictator”, the U.S. president replied: “Did I say that? I can’t believe I’ll say that.”
Trump also seemed to soften his attitude towards Zelensky, praising him as “very brave” and saying the couple was “really good.” Trump also noted that he trusted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s promise to any peace agreement they reached.
Last week, Trump called Zelensky a “dictator”, resonating with Russia’s claims about Kiev’s cancellation of the election. The British Prime Minister also said that the two governments will work to reach an economic agreement between the two countries. Trump said Starmer worked very hard to convince him not to impose tariffs on British imports. “He earned whatever hell they paid to him in that,” Trump said of Steamer. Trump said there was a “great opportunity” for them to reach a trade deal, “no tariffs were required.”
Trump also won early for Starmer, saying he might support a British plan to control the strategic Chagos Islands of the Indian Ocean to Mauritius, but then leased it back to maintain control of the strategic air conditioners used by the United States and the United Kingdom.
Starmer presented a letter from King Charles to the president, and Trump reads it in real time.
Trump called the British king “a beautiful man and a great man” and made sure he would visit the UK in the “next future.”
He accepted an invitation to King Charles’ state visit.
“It’s a very honor to be the Prime Minister in the Oval Office,” Trump said. “It’s a very special place, he’s a special person. Britain is a – great, it’s a wonderful country that I know very well. I’m there a lot. I’m going, I’ll go there, and we hope to see each other in the near future. We’ll announce it,” Trump told reporters.
