The Tamil Nadu State Transportation of the Kumbakonam department has won five national public bus transport awards from the National Association for Road Transportation (ASRTU) in 2023-24.
With the operations of the Highway Alliance Department, Asturu brings together all state road transport companies on a common platform to bring together their resource expertise and help improve their performance.
TNSTC, Kumbakonam is considered the winner of fuel efficiency – Mofussil (the fleet is up to 4,000) and fuel efficiency – City (the fleet is above 1,000 or more). It won the winner of the tire performance – Urban and won the runner-up award under the tire performance – Rural. The department is the winner of the Vehicle Utilization Award. Awards include cash rewards.
The award was made by Kiran Bedi, managing director of TNSTC R. Ponmudi, Kiran Bedi, at the recent International Women’s Day celebration in Asrtu, New Delhi, from Lieutenant Kiran Bedi.
Mr. Pommoody told Hindu The division has won awards in all three key areas of the company’s main spending (vehicle utilization, fuel efficiency and tire performance). Mr. Ponmudi devoted the award to the commitment of crew and technicians, observing that the company would not be able to perform so well without their participation and cooperation.
According to TNSTC officials, the state transport company in Tamil Nadu won 19 national public bus transport awards in 2023-24. The TNSTC Salem and Madurai departments each received four awards. National Express Transport Company III; MTC, Chennai, two; and TNSTC, Villupuram department.
