Jharkhand Assembly Elections: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday came down heavily on the JMM-led alliance, accusing it of supporting infiltration of vote bank politics. He said that if infiltration is not curbed, there will be no place for Hindus and tribals in Jharkhand in 20 years.
The Chief Minister of Assam made the remarks at a political rally in Harsawan, Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Sarma, who is also the BJP co-incharge for the Jharkhand elections, said that while the Hindu and tribal population is declining rapidly, the Muslim population is increasing. He claimed: “At the current rate of penetration in Bangladesh, there will be no place for tribals and Hindus in Jharkhand in 20 years.”
The BJP leader claimed that in Santal Pargana, Hindus and tribals together account for 90% of the population, with tribals accounting for 44%. However, he claimed that by 2011, the Hindu population had declined to 67%, while the tribal population had declined to only 28%.
“During the same period, the Muslim population grew from 10% to 22%,” he claimed. Sarma concluded by saying, “This election is a choice between the dictatorship of the JMM-led alliance and the development model of Prime Minister Modi.”
