The second half of the parliamentary budget meeting is expected to be a fierce budget meeting, with the opposition targeting the government by raising several burning questions, from demarcation and trilingual formula policies to U.S. trade tariffs and suspected of manipulating the election volume.
A showdown between the Treasury and opposition seats could take place on the controversial WAQF amendment, which has been cleared by the coalition cabinet for introduction in parliament.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government was keen on the early adoption of the WAQF bill, claiming it would address many of the problems in the Muslim community. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will list Manipur’s budget on Monday, which has been ruled by the president since Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s resignation on February 13. Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to propose a statutory resolution to seek approval from Parliament to announce presidential domination in Northeastern states.
Opposition MPs may mark new events in Manipur’s freedom action in Manipur. The state has been sweeping over ethnic conflicts since May 2023.
