New Delhi: A report said on Thursday that the white-collar job market in India is preparing for a surge in recruitment, with 96% of employers (up from 92% in 2024) expressing optimism about the first half of the recruitment activity. Naukri.com’s report shows that of these 96% of employers, about 58% are adopting a two-tube shelved approach – creating new positions and filling existing roles – a 48% growth in this strategy was adopted last year, according to a Naukri.com report.
Among the remaining employers, 18% plan to create new positions specifically and plan to focus only on replacement recruitment. Layouts are expected to decline. The report said the same employer percentage is expected to drop from 3% in 2024 to 2% this year.
Its role has become a leadership role in various industries, with 37% of employers prioritizing their role, which is up from 24% in 2024. About 42% of these also expect its role to see the highest loss, indicating the talent retention challenge in the industry. Professionals with 3-8 years of experience find themselves in the best position in the job market in 2025. Employers are actively targeting professionals who will account for 58% of recruitment activities, up from 53% last year.
The demand for talent brings both new perspectives and practical expertise, which is expected to rise. “Seeing the company’s strong hiring intentions supported by the substantive incremental program for H1 2025,” said Dr. Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Naukri.com. “The renewed focus on recruitment in new job creation and replacement departments, which shows that the first half was positive.”
He added that while churn remains a focus in early career brackets, the double-digit increments of the program and a steady trend in campus recruitment suggest that employers are prioritizing retention and long-term workforce programs. New graduates also have reasons to remain optimistic. 34% of employers confirmed that campus recruitment will continue as planned (up from 30% last year) to make a more stable entry into the workforce.
