The second round of the parliamentary budget meeting began today, another confrontation between the opposition and the government in the so-called “Hindi” language implemented through the National Education Policy (NEP).
Om Birla, the haunting lok sabha speaker, was closed at 12 noon.
DMK members attacked the government for their MPs walking into the house well and protesting. The protesters shouted, “We want justice.”
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded to the attack and accused protesters of misleading the country on the NEP. Prahan denied allegations that Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and other DMK leaders conquered Hindi in Lok Sabha.
Pradhan criticized the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government for refusing the national education policy and trilingual policy during the issue hour, accusing them of politicizing the issue. He called their position “uncivilized and undemocratic” and claimed that they were damaging the future of Tamil Nadu students.
“They are not committed to the students in Tamil Nadu. They are destroying their future. They are dishonest to the people of Tamil Nadu,” Pradan said.
Prahan also pointed out that Karnataka, although not a non-BJP state, accepted the policy with several other non-BJP states.
