In a shocking incident, a Level 10 student gave birth to a baby boy after taking a board exam in the Malkangiri district of Odisha on Monday night, February 24.
The girl studied in a government-run school in the area. According to the report India todayafter the exam, she lived in a school hotel and gave birth at the Chitrakonda secondary hospital.
In addition, it was reported that the girl continued to attend classes and took exams, and the authorities did not notice her condition. Meanwhile, the girl’s parents were responsible to the school authorities, who asked the hotel warden, the report said.
After the incident, the police and the District Welfare Officer (DWO) investigated the matter. “The investigation is underway. The family has not filed a complaint yet in the hospital, but they assured us that they will file a complaint upon their return,” a statement from the Chitrakoda police said.
According to a police statement, the 15-year-old girl has a relationship with a local boy who is the child’s father.
“We are working hard to find the defendant. So far, there has been no official response from the school or district government on the incident. The girl and her child are currently being treated at Malkangiri Hospital.”
