Hyderabad: A 15-day operation, eight missing persons in the partially collapsed SLBC tunnel in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district made some progress on Sunday, with the corpse dogs in Kerala identifying possible locations for human existence under rubble.
The specially trained dog discovered human presence at D-2 points about 100 meters away from the accident site during the last period of the 14-kilometer tunnel.
Rescuers carefully dig the silt at a certain location. Some missing persons may be followed at night.
The rescue team also reportedly found a human part of a person on Saturday night. They are doing excavation work around to pull out the body.
Three days ago, a special helicopter brought two trained people from Kerala to find the missing humans and human bodies.
According to officials, the odors of these Belgian Malinois breeds can be found even from a depth of 15 feet.
Eight people have been trapped in the Srisailam left bank canal (SLBC) project tunnel since February 22, when a part of the tunnel roof collapsed during excavation.
Four workers, two engineers and two machine operators are from Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jamu and Kashmir.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Indian Army, Navy, the National Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other agencies have been working hard to track it.
As Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy suggested when visiting the tunnel on March 2, authorities deployed robots in the tunnel on Saturday for rescue operations.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the deployment of robotics to accelerate rescue operations.
The robot equipped with a camera, infrared sensor and robotic arms has been deployed to evaluate conditions and extract.
The minister examined the situation for senior officials of the rescue agency engaged in the operation, saying the rescue team had progressed to 13.95 km, but the last 50 meters were still very unstable due to oxygen depletion, seepage and metal debris, while metal waste caused the collapsed tunnel hole machine (TBM).
Continue dehydration and desalination work in the tunnel. The minister said the government has consulted global tunnel experts and deployed 525 personnel to ensure there are no financial restrictions and allocated a robotic system of Rs 4 crore.
Uttam Kumar Reddy praised the ruthless efforts of all involved and guaranteed full support for the families of trapped workers. He promised to return within two to three days to assess progress, reiterating that the rescue operation will continue until all workers get it back.
