The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has concluded a week-long cyber awareness campaign aimed at helping senior citizens across the state access important information to protect themselves from cyber scams and cyber threats. TGCSB, through its Regional Coordinating Groups, conducts outreach activities in various communities across the state.
The event was attended by 30 senior citizens representing various associations across Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and they were educated on how to spot scams, defend against scams and cyber threat trends including digital arrest scams, transaction/investment frauds and emergency Deception fraud.
During the event, videos and posters specially designed to increase Internet awareness among the elderly were also launched.
The campaign will continue through targeted online groups. The TGCSB has created a WhatsApp group for the Statewide Senior Citizens Association, which currently has more than 2,000 members signed up. The groups will be used to share awareness campaigns on cybercrime trends and cybersecurity best practices, an official said.
