Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed deep condolences on the death of Gurpreet Singh in the SLBC tunnel accident.
Mr Revanth Reddy announced compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to the lost family. The body of Punjab native Gurpreet Singh was found from the SLBC tunnel on Sunday, part of which collapsed on February 22, attracting eight workers. Gurpreet Singh works as a Tunnel Drilling Machine (TBM) operator in the SLBC tunnel. He was employed by the American company Robinson and served as TBM operator. The Chief Minister and Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed their deep condolences for his demise. They assured the family support by announcing compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh and arranged for the mortal relics to be sent to his motherland village in Punjab. Officials said the government is organizing a refrigeration-based hearse van to carry with police and two drivers as the family wants to bring the body to his hometown.
