one Quickly scan the front pages of British newspapers, you think it’s a diplomatic moment of the century, and you’ll be forgiven, but the media on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean shows at a glance that Keir Starmer and Donald Trump’s party has barely splashed.
Instead, most of the coverage portrays the Prime Minister as an envoy, bringing a more charming invitation than Oxted’s former lawyer: the Royal Red Carpet.
Here we quickly learn how the U.S. media introduces the meeting between the U.S. President and the British Prime Minister.
The New York Times
The encounter was not made for a print front page, and by Friday morning it disappeared from the front of the site. A short article focused on Trump’s comments on Vladimir Putin and Ukraine, a newspaper search found.
Fox News
Trump’s news channel indirectly under the meeting title on its online front page: “Trump has caused laughter in his answers to the question about calling Zelenskyy a dictator”. The article focuses on comments made by the U.S. president in the Oval Office when asked about controversial slander, answering: “I can’t believe I say that.”
USA Today
Although Trump and his tariff moves did, the meeting between the two leaders did not become the front page of the print edition. The online newspaper covers the party under the title: “Tea with flattery: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visits Trump”.
The report said: “British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer arrived at the White House on Thursday to bring a special envelope to President Donald Trump – a letter from King Charles III invited him to make his second state visit.”
Washington Post
The summit of the two leaders did appear on the front page of the print edition of The Washington Post – as the picture under the title captures the story: “The exquisite diplomatic propaganda of Ukraine.” “In Washington, Starmer deployed a mix of flattery, respect and even a royal invitation to state visits.”
When online, coverage has lowered the scene to the section titled “British Prime Minister uses flattery, Royal invitation to push Trump to board Ukraine”.
Wall Street Journal
In the printed version, WSJ covered the meeting, and although under the title “Trump in Kiev’s tone but not giving security commitments”, the story focuses on Trump’s position in Ukraine expressed during Starmer’s visit.
The event once again focused on the title decline in Ukraine rather than the historical creativity of the congregation. “Trump sounds warmer in Ukraine, but cannot get security guarantees,” it said.

Starmer is not shown on CNN Online, but the conference does appear in several articles, one focusing on the answer to Trump’s brand of Ukrainian president, as dictator Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a dictator, while the other accepted a royal invitation to visit the UK for a second state visit.
