The second leg of the parliamentary budget meeting will begin on March 10. The meeting is expected to begin with a stormy note, with opposition planning issues such as U.S. trade tariffs, allegedly manipulating election bills, WAQF bills, delimitation, delimitation and trilingual rules of National Education Policy (NEP) (NEP).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will seek parliamentary approval to demand grants, complete budget procedures and pass key legislation, including the WAQF Amendment Bill.
The meeting could show a showdown between the ruling and opposition members in the controversial WAQF amendment. The bill was cleared by the union cabinet last month after it was changed. United Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government was keen on the early adoption of the WAQF bill, claiming it would address many of the problems in the Muslim community.
The first round of the budget meeting lasts until February 13. The second part will last from April 4 to April 4, with a total of 20 pieces planned. One of the main highlights of the lawsuit will be the budget proposed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for Manipur’s budget.
Oppn raises Manipur violence
The opposition will likely hold new violence in Manipur amid the Center’s free operation on the state’s highway. Since May 2023, the state has now been burned by racial conflicts under the president’s rule.
On Saturday, on all roads in Manipur province, 25 people were injured in the first day of the conflict between Kuki protesters and security forces.
US President Donald Trump said that India has agreed to “reduce” its tariffs as well as one of the issues raised by the opposition at this session. The party’s secretary-general, Jairam Ramesh, asked last week whether the government had “compromised” the interests of Indian farmers and manufacturers in the process.
The government is eager to pass the WAQF Act as soon as possible, claiming that it will address many of the problems in the Muslim community.
Concerns raised by Tamil Nadu CM and DMK President MK Stalin are also expected to arise in parliament regarding the expected demarcation.
The DMK’s ruling in Tamil Nadu is also expected to raise the so-called “Hindi imposition” issue through three language formulas under NEP. The TMC will focus on the issue of duplicate Epic (vote photo ID) numbers in different states.
