Amid the potential major trade war, foreign capital outflows and sustained headwinds of macroeconomic indicators, the frontline equity index – Sensex and Nifty 50-50 ends mixed on Tuesday, February 25.
Sensex snatched a five-day streak and ended 148 points at 74,602.12, while the Nifty 50 extended loss was the sixth straight, down 6 points at 22,547.55, or 0.03% .
With the BSE MidCAP and SmallCAP off the range of 0.57% and below 0.45%, the broader metrics performed poorly.

Here are 10 key highlights of today’s Indian stock market:
1. Why did the Nifty 50 drop today?
Reliance Industries, TCS and Larsen and Toubro (L&T) stocks ended as the highest Nifty 50 index dragged down. Global clues, the weakness of the rupee and concerns about the loss of steam in growth are the main reasons for the continued correction of the market.
“Concerns about overvaluation have led to a continued decline in small and medium-sized stocks. Market sentiment is expected to remain cautious in the short term due to ongoing pressure on the Indian rupee, ongoing FII outflows and tariff-related developments.” Geojit Financial Services Research Director Nair.
2. Today’s Nifty 50 gains
Stocks of Bharti Airtel (growth 2.32%), Mahindra and Mahindra (growth 2.13%) and Bajaj Finance (growth 1.40%) were closed due to the highest interest in the Nifty 50 index.
3. Today’s Nifty 50 Losers
Stocks in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory (down 3.10%), Hindalco (down 3.01%) and Trent (down 2.41%) ended with the highest losers in the benchmark index.
4. How is the sector index performing today?
The sector index is over. Nifty Bank fell 0.09%, but the private banking index (up 0.02%) was almost flat. On the other hand, the Nifty PSU Bank Index fell by 1.22%.
Nifty Metal (down 1.54%) ended with the highest loser in the sector index. Nifty Realty (down 1.31%) and oil and gas (down 1.13%) also suffered significant losses.
Nifty Media (growth 0.84%), automatic (growth 0.51%) and FMCG (growth 0.32%) ended with mild growth.
5. The most active stocks in terms of quantity
Vodafone Idea (2.021 million shares), is the most active bank (491 million shares), Zomato (485 million shares), Easy Trip Planners (362 million shares) and GTL infrastructure (344 million shares) (344 million shares) (344 million shares) stock NSE.
6. Stocks are 52 weeks high
About 49 shares, including Narayana Hrudayalaya and Camlin Fine Sciences, hit a fresh 52-week high in BSE’s intraday trading.
7. Which stocks hit 52-week lows today?
As many as 234 stocks including SBI, Tata Motors, IRCTC, PI Industries, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company, Tata Communications, Tata Elxsi and Gujarat Gas, hit a 52-week low in BSE’s internal trade.
8. Highest stocks up more than 5% in plain market
Vijaya Diagnostic Center (Growth 15.43%), Paradeep Phosphates (Growth 9.38%), Tata Investment (7.29%), Zensar Tech (Growth 6.16%) and Adani Power (Growth 5.86%) BSE shares jumped more than 5%.
9. The highest stock fell 5%
Dr. Lal Pathlabs (down 6.81%), Triveni Engineering (down 5.39%), Aditya Birla Real Estate (down 5.36%) (down 5.36%), Usha Martin (down 5.17%) and Realegare Enterprises (down 5.12%) are today in BSE One of the stocks that fell more than 5%.
