Sensex crash: Indian stocks are expected to end the week with sharp losses. The benchmark Sensex has plunged over 3,500 points this week, while the Nifty has fallen close to the 200-day exponential moving average (DEMA) of around 23,700 points.
On Friday, December 20, the Sensex opened at 79,335.48 points and closed at 79,218.05 points before falling more than 800 points, or more than 1%, to the day’s low of 78,398.84 points. The Nifty 50 index opened at 23,960.70 points compared with the previous close of 23,951.70 points, falling nearly 250 points, or 1%, to 23,711.75 points.
The Sensex and Nifty 50 index have declined in the past five sessions. Taking into account Friday’s lows, the Sensex has fallen over 3,700 points, or nearly 5%, this week. The Nifty 50 index is set to end the week down more than 4%.
