The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, including Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S25, will be launched in January 2025. The devices will be the direct successors to last year’s Samsung Galaxy S24 series and are expected to introduce several new features and improvements over the previous generation. Based on reports and leaks so far, users can expect a number of changes to the S25 series, and here’s how we feel about the expected changes.
1. Available for all models of Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
According to reports, including Android Authority citing Ice Universe, all S25 series models will be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This marks a significant shift from last year, when Samsung equipped the Galaxy S24 series with different chipsets: the standard model came with an Exynos 2400, and the S24 Ultra came with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Having Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets across the entire lineup will boost Samsung’s sales, especially in markets like India, where users still have reservations about Exynos chipsets. Snapdragon 8 Elite is a top-tier processor perfect for gamers and performance enthusiasts.
2. S25 Ultra’s rounded corners
There is news that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will eventually abandon the sharp corners on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in favor of more rounded corners, similar to the Pixel 9 Pro. If this does happen, the device will be more comfortable, as holding sharp corners in your hands can hurt them. We strongly feel that phones like the iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro are more comfortable than the Samsung S24 Ultra. But with the Samsung S25 Ultra finally choosing rounded corners, this problem is solved.
3. Similar design of S25 and S25 Plus
Reports suggest that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will retain much of the design language of their predecessors, the S24 and S24 Plus. These models already feature sophisticated aesthetics, minimal bezels, and a clean rear design. However, if Samsung can achieve thinner bezels and improve overall device balance, the S25 series could feel more premium.
4. One UI 7 and new AI features
The Galaxy S25 series is expected to launch with One UI 7, pre-installed with a system based on Android 15. Based on what we’ve seen so far, One UI 7 seems to be an interesting update that might enhance the experience you get on the S25 series.
However, the main factors contributing to this result are the addition of new AI capabilities and improvements to existing ones. We believe that companies that choose to abandon all AI capabilities force them to innovate further, and the S25 series is no exception.
Samsung already has a built-in library of AI features that are hailed as some of the best in the industry. If the South Korean giant can integrate more, it will make its AI arsenal even more powerful.
5. Comprehensively increase memory
A common complaint about the Galaxy S24 series is the base 8GB RAM configuration. However, according to tipster Abhishek Yadav, this will change with the Galaxy S25 series. He suggested that both the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ will come with 12GB RAM starting from the base version. This means that the 8GB model will no longer be available.
What does this mean for users? Devices like the Google Pixel 9 Pro already come with 16GB of RAM and are known for their advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Having more RAM means the Galaxy S25 series remains competitive, especially with the introduction of new AI-driven features that require higher memory capacity.
Furthermore, this not only makes the device more future-proof but also improves overall performance. The increase in RAM to 12GB in the standard model is particularly good news for consumers, especially when competing devices like the Pixel 9 already offer this configuration.
