The Union Ministry of Education (MOE) on Wednesday (February 26, 2025) condemned the recent claim made by Congressional overseas leader Sam Pitroda that his virtual interaction with students at “IIT-Ranchi” had been hacked and played offensive content.
The ministry clarified that Ranch did not have the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and he said that Mr. Pitroda’s claims were unfounded and ignorant. Furthermore, the ministry said it has been confirmed by the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Mr. Ranchi (IIIT), Pitroda, was not invited to attend any conference/symposium, whether physically or virtually, without attending the speech.
In an article on X, the postal code said the department’s notice was that Mr. Pitroda said in a video posted on X handle that he was speaking on “IIT-Ranchi” to hundreds of students and being hacked by someone and playing offensive content, but disrupting the activity.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education said: “Such reckless statements seem to be an attempt to undermine the image of the country’s extremely well-known institution. The institution has stood the test of time and produced some of the smartest people. Unlike such an uninformed person, the IIT reputation is based on the merits, efforts and achievements of many students, teachers and academia.”
Against this backdrop, Moe warns of the legal influence to weaken the image of the country’s major institutions.
