Indian captain Rohit Sharma made history by winning the 2025 ICC Championship trophy at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9. The Blues outscored New Zealand by four wickets in the final as Ravindra Jadeja smashed the winning boundary and pushed India past India with a 252-shot chase.
On the back of this victory, Rohit Sharma became the second captain in India to win two ICC trophys. Previously, he also directed India’s ICC T20 World Cup championship in Barbados in 2024. Previously, MS Dhoni (3), Sourav Ganguly (1) and Kapil Dev (1) also led to India winning the ICC trophy.

The Indian captain set the tone and took his outstanding 76 (83) height of one-seventh and three sixes. He started with six shots on his second delivery, hitting the trademark pull on Kyle Jamieson. Rohit reached his half-century 41 delivery and joined Shubman Gill to open the ticket inspector for 100 runs.
Tensions for India were 122/3 after Rohit Sharma left, in 26.1 points. But then, Shreyas Iyer (48 hits 62) and Axar Patel (40-year-old 29) set up a crucial 61-shot stance for the fourth wicket. KL Rahul then played 34 innings and 33 innings, while Hardik Pandya (18% off), Ravindra Jadeja (6% off 6 years old) beat India’s finish line in 49 points.
Previously, Rohit Sharma also became the first international captain to lead his team in all four major ICC events, including the 2023 World Exam Champion, the 2023 ODI World Cup, the T20 World Cup 2024 and the 2025 Championship Trophy.
