Former minister CT Ravi (MLC) alleged that the Congress government was leaving no stone unturned to demoralize and attack him by using police powers to arrest him on “baseless charges and without jurisdiction”.
Addressing a press conference after his release from Davangere on Friday evening, Ravi said: “I was arrested without notice on baseless charges and the case had no jurisdiction. I was taken It took about 11 hours to visit four regions and more than 50 villages, just to humiliate me.
“Truth wins”
He mentioned that he would not comment much on the court order, as he had said before, the truth prevailed. He said he has seen the Congress party’s strategy of using power to snub protesters over the past 35 years, and that such attempts have further strengthened their determination to fight.
Earlier, BJP president BY Vijayendra said the police treated Mr Ravi in an inhumane manner, failing to provide him with medical treatment despite his injuries and following regular calls to police to escort Mr Ravi. His instructions took him to many places. He said the case should be handed over to India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as requested by Leader of the Opposition in Parliament R. Ashok.
He termed the High Court’s interim bail order as a “slap on the face of the state government”.
“No bracelets”
He said the BJP workers would not tolerate gangsterism by Congress leaders and remained quiet “without bracelets”.
He said that since this was also a case of human rights violation, party leaders would sit together and decide on the next course of action against “the atrocities committed by the government”.
