Ravensh Reddy pledges to support reading culture

For the first time in a decade, the Chief Minister walked into the NTR Stadium to inaugurate the 37th World Cup^th Edition at Hyderabad Book Fair.

During Thursday’s inauguration, CM A. Revanth Reddy said those who achieved political power gained more fame than those who actually fought for the new nation.

“There is a certain degree of distortion in the Telangana struggle. Those who died during the movement have been ignored. There has also been a certain degree of distortion in the farmers’ armed struggle, the first and second phases of the Telangana movement.

“For the past 10 years, some people have been spreading the narrative that history written in their names is the real history. We have named Telugu University after Suravaram Pratap Reddy in recognition of his role. Like Kaloji and Dasarathi Likewise, many poets inspired the first Telangana movement and we hold them up as icons, including poets like Ande Sri, Guda Anjaiah and Gaddar Reading Habit “The state government will give due weight to the book fair which aims to convey the true history. Some respect,” he said.

This year’s Hyderabad Book Fair features 350 stalls selling a variety of merchandise, including rare and second-hand books, besides religious books. For the first time, the State Library has set up a booth to showcase the services on offer. The book fair runs until December 29 and is open from 12 noon to 9 p.m.
