Rape arrested accused of BJP MLA by March 27: Mewani of Gujarat Congress | Ahmedabad News

Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani challenged the Gujarat government on Friday to arrest BJP MLA Gajendrasinh Parmar, who faces charges of rape and other related crimes.

Mevani made a statement on the floor of Gujarat Chapsbly, while opposing a proposal to thank the governor for his speech to the House and raised issues of women’s safety in Gujarat.

Regarding women’s safety, Mevani first mentioned the incident in the Panchmahal area a few years ago, and the gangrape case of Dalit Girl was allegedly torn apart by some policemen in the FIR book, allegedly at the request of some locals in a political party who realized that they were aware that the three were accused of being charged in the FIR.

Mewani said the Gujarat government did not become the complainant against the police but conducted a departmental investigation into them. Mevani further said that one inning of the matter was only registered after Dalit leader Valjibhai Patel raised the issue and “fighted until the end.”

“Is this respect for women in Gujarat?” Mevani asked.

Then, he said: “So, I want to tell the state government: Before this congress (conference) ended on March 27, when the sun set, the BJP leader Gajendrasinh Parmar was arrested, who was the defendant. I challenge the Gujarat government from this forum.”

“Why doesn’t the state arrest him (allegedly) the person who committed rape, regardless of which party he may belong to?” he asked.

Parmar is the former minister of the Gujarat government and is the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA of the Prantij constituency in Sabarkantha area.

The Gujarat government flew Parmar at the 21 police station in Gandhinagar in October last year at the Gujarat High Court. FIR is registered under the allegations of Rape and Criminal Intimidation and Pre-Catal Castes and Pre-Classic Tribes (Prevention of Abuse) Act.

According to the FIR, the complainant claimed that Parmar called her to the MLA dormitory in Gandhinagar on July 30, 2020 and established a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marrying her. She claimed in FIR that MLA then began to ignore her phone. He allegedly used caste-document comments on one of his conference calls and threatened that she would be kidnapped and harassed if she talked about their relationship.

Sources said there was no Parma at the current budget meeting in Gujarat so far.
