Ranya Rao’s case fell into a political controversy on Sunday (March 10, 2025) after BJP state unit chairman Vijayendra was suspected of being involved in the ruling Congress party of “the famous minister of the Sidalamaya government.”

Mr Vijayendra said it was not surprising that media reports that the minister was involved in “one of the biggest gold robberies recently”. He claimed that Ranya Rao could not violate the procedures by violating the influential figures of the Karnataka government by violating the agreement.

Vijayendra said in an article on X: “Just as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would have received intelligence reports to point out suspicious ministers and their involvement, the government’s attempt to cover up those responsible would only cover up the CBI, especially with the current involvement of the CBI.

According to comments received by the Income Intelligence Agency (DRI), the CBI has registered a case and launched an investigation on March 8 involving gold smuggling rackets with international links.
