Defense Minister Rajnath Singh celebrated the eve of Diwali with the Army at the IV headquarters in Tezpur, Assam on Wednesday.
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Commander-in-Chief of the Eastern Command Lieutenant General RC Tewari, Commander of the 4th Army Lieutenant General Gambir Singh and other senior officials of the Indian Army accompanied him.
Addressing the soldiers during the celebrations, the minister said, “India and China are engaged in diplomatic and military talks to resolve conflicts in some areas along the Line of Actual Control. Through our continuous efforts, we have reached a consensus. We have achieved this A success is due to your discipline and courage.
“We will continue this process of restoring peace on the basis of consensus. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee once said that we can change our friends but not our neighbours. We believe that with Neighboring countries maintain friendly relations.
“However, sometimes situations arise and the security of the borders must be ensured. Taking into account the interests of our troops, the government will take the necessary steps in the process of restoring peace,” he added at the “Barakana” event.
“Barakhana” is a military event held on special occasions where troops of all levels eat together to promote friendship and unity among troops of all levels.
The Defense Minister praised the Barakana concept, stressing its role in fostering camaraderie within the ranks.
“Barakhana shows that we are more than just official titles; we have titles of our own. We are a united family dedicated to protecting our country,” he said.
Rajnath Singh also praised the steadfast spirit, unwavering commitment and extraordinary courage of the troops fighting on the frontline in difficult conditions, calling them a true source of inspiration to the youth.
He earlier conducted a comprehensive review of the combat readiness of the troops and was briefed on infrastructure development along the Line of Actual Control and the use of cutting-edge military equipment and technology to enhance operational efficiency.
