A 16-year-old boy from Bihar, who was preparing for IIT-JEE, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his dormitory in Vigyan Nagar police station area of Kota city on Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred despite the fact that the fan in the dormitory room was equipped with an anti-suicide device. The police suspected that this was a suicide case, but no suicide note was found in the room. The reason for the minor’s extreme behavior has yet to be determined.
Mukesh Meena, circle inspector of Vigyan Nagar police station, said a 16-year-old boy from Bihar’s Vaishali district has been preparing for IIT-JEE at a coaching institute in Kota since April this year.
The boy was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his dormitory room on Friday, he added.
This is the 17th suicide of a tutoring student in Kota since January this year. In 2023, 26 suicides of tutoring students occurred in the city.
