Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (December 22, 2024) held wide-ranging talks with Kuwait Emir Sheikh Meshaal Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with a focus on establishing a bilateral relationship between India and Kuwait relations have received new impetus, especially in the areas of trade, investment and cooperation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day visit, the first by an Indian prime minister to the Gulf country in 43 years. The prime minister also met with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Sabah.
Officials earlier said the talks would focus on strengthening ties in a range of key areas including defense and trade.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi spoke at an Indian community event and visited an Indian labor camp.
India is one of Kuwait’s largest trading partners. The Indian community is the largest expat community in Kuwait.

The Gulf country is one of India’s largest trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching $10.47 billion in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
