Chatgpt developer Openai said Thursday it has released a research preview of its latest GPT-4.5 model, designed to provide professional users and developers around the world with plans to expand access in the coming weeks.
The company said GPT-4.5 has improved recognition patterns, the ability to generate creative insights without reasoning, and shows greater emotional intelligence.
Microsoft Basked Openai said it will start rolling out GPT-4.5 to Chatgpt Plus and team users next week, and then to Enterprise and Edu users next week.
CEO Sam Altman called it “a huge, expensive model”, saying the company exhausted its GPU capabilities and rolled it out to the user layer at the same time.
“We’re going to add thousands of GPUs next week… It’s not the way we want to operate, but it’s hard to fully predict the growth wave that leads to GPU shortages,” he said in an article on X.

Openai said the model also has a lower “illusion” rate, a common problem where large language models produce false information. The hallucination rate of GPT-4.5 was 37.1%, compared with 61.8% shown in GPT-4O, and its O1 inference model showed 44%.
GPT-4.5 supports file and image uploads and can also work on writing and coding projects, but currently does not support other advanced features such as voice and video.
