OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called rival Musk a “bully” during an episode of the Bari Weiss podcast when discussing the ChatGPT maker’s feud with Tesla’s billionaire CEO.

Although Altman initially praised Musk as an entrepreneur, he later called Musk a bully and noted that in addition to pitting xAI against OpenAI, he also fought other tech leaders.

“He’s also obviously a bully, and he’s obviously also a guy who likes to get into fights. Now, that’s me. It’s Bezos, it’s Gates, it’s Zuckerberg, there’s a lot of others. I think fundamentally it’s about OpenAI is about doing very well. Elon cares about doing well,” Altman said.

However, Altman also claimed that it was Musk who wanted OpenAI to become a for-profit organization.

“But Elon most wanted OpenAI to be a for-profit organization and made a series of proposals – such as OpenAI becoming part of Tesla – mainly just to create a new for-profit organization that he would have control over,” he said in the podcast.

OpenAI and Musk are currently locked in a legal dispute, with the Tesla CEO and billionaire claiming that OpenAI no longer adheres to its basic principles of benefiting humanity.

Musk’s own artificial intelligence company, xAI, recently launched its Grok chatbot on social media platform X even to non-paying users. Leaders question fair play.
