Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on Tuesday that many people died during the ongoing Kumbh Mela and demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, immediately issued a promised compensation announced for the families of the victims.
She also questioned the claim that a 144-year gap occurred in Maha Kumbh Mela this year, urging experts to verify the accuracy of the claim.
Banerjee told reporters in the National Secretariat: “My request from the UP government, CM Yogi Adityanath is that since they have announced the full love for the family killed in Kumbh Mela, they must release the amount immediately. “here.
“There are many (Kum pilgrims) who died in accidents or who are trying to board the train, they deserve compensation.”
The UP government has announced compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to the families of people who died during Kumbh Mela.
Banerjee mentioned the government’s strategies and plans she adopted during her annual congregation in Gangasagar Mela.
“If I arrange for a wedding, I have to keep in mind the number of guests. For religious congregations, we also have to follow the same plans and arrangements. We have already talked about the (lack) plans (in Kumbh Mela) she said: “I never twisted them. Through this religion. ”
Banerjee mentioned her recent “Mrityu Kumbh” remarks, claiming that authorities have suppressed the actual death toll due to Maha Kumbh’s stampede. The BJP attacked her comments, accusing her of insulting Hindus.
Banerjee said during Gangasagar Mela, “we did not sleep for four or five days. During Durga Puja, we maintained a constant vigil until the end of the carnival that there was no event (Untowward) , This is a lot of events. People from different states visited the state.”
An accident did occur, but if the authorities do not have proper plans, it is the ordinary people who suffer
More than 100 people died when talking about the 2011 fire incident at a private hospital in the city, CM said.
She added: “We remain awake all night until the autopsy is completed.
Banerjee accused the UP government of not issuing death certificates to Kumbh pilgrims killed in the accident government.
“We (West Bengal Government) were forced to conduct body checks and issue death certificates. I don’t know what other states do,” she said.
In a clear reference to the BJP government of the centre, Banerjee claimed it controlled the media while reporting the death toll in different accidents during the ongoing congregation in Prayagraj.
She said: “Gangasagar is an annual event, but Maha Kumbh is held every 12 years. The last Kumbh Mela happened in 2014. If I was wrong, please correct me. However, this is Maha that happened in 144 years Kumbh is incorrect.”
Banerjee greeted the people of Shivratri and the upcoming Dolyatra (March) festival and urged people to keep peace as Ramzan’s one-month pace is scheduled to begin on March 1.
“We must work together. Religion belongs to one individual, but festivals are all. I will call on all communities, religions, castes and creeds to celebrate the festival peacefully.”
