New Delhi: Several opposition members condemned the remarks of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday as a series of remarks on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Tamil Nadu, followed by a brief recession of the Lok Sabha lawsuit. DMK members protested in parliament over Pradan’s remarks that the Tamil Nadu government was “dishonest” in implementing the rising PM School of India (PM SHRI) program. The Education Minister later withdrew his remarks.
Responding to questions about Prime Minister Shri’s plan, Pradhan said the Tamil Nadu government, led by DMK, has changed its stance on implementing a central sponsorship program, which envisions strengthening schools managed by central, state or local agencies. The countries concerned must sign a memorandum of understanding with the central government, which will implement NEP 2020. In return, the central government provided funding.
DMK MP Kanimozhi said MPs are talking to party leaders about the privilege motion on the issue. “Today, one of our members raised an important question from Tamil Nadu that the coalition government has not released funds yet, otherwise, more than Rs 20 billion will be released for our school children unless Govt agrees to sign the NEP and accepts the trilingual policy. The minister’s response is.
Kanimozhi said the DMK government raised concerns about the NEP and refused to fully accept the policy. “They (central government) should not associate the funding with the implementation of the NEP. We have not changed our position… the minister calls us liars and has no disguise.” He hurts our pride… We do not object to any language, but you cannot call us uncivilized people… We are talking to our leaders about the move to transfer privileges,” Kanimozhi added.
MP Mallu Ravi said that equal respect for the Indian people must be given. “Today while answering some questions, the Education Minister made a very non-Parliamentary comment on a state. He said the Tamils are uncivilized.” The MP said the term showed the BJP government’s thoughts about India, which is condemnable.
“We all have objected to this… We want equal respect to all people in southern India, especially Tamil Nadu… instead of answering correctly, it is him (Pradan) commenting that the Tamils are uncivilized.” Several DMK MPs also put forward the slogan “Stop the victimization of South India.”
Congress’ Karti Chidambaram said social and political consistency in Tamil Nadu is not accepted for trilingual policies. He told reporters: “Tamil Nadu will never accept the imposition of Hindi and we get the formula for two languages. Tamil Nadu has social and political consistency… when rejecting NEP for rejection.
The Tamil Nadu government and the centre have been implementing new NEP and three-language formulas.
