Andhra Pradesh and Education Nara Lokesh said on Friday (28 February 2025) that the government is moving forward steadily and has taken meticulous plans to make school education the number one in the country.

Andhra Pradesh Budget Focus: State Government’s budget for Rs 2025-26 is Rs 3.2 lakh

In a statement issued after the budget was proposed by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Mr. Lokesh said the decision to provide free electricity to all government schools in the state was revolutionary because it would not only reduce the financial burden on local institutions, but also reduce the pressure on teachers and students.

He said that as promised by the Super Six program, funds were allocated in the budget starting from the 2025-26 fiscal year to launch the “Thalli Ki Vandanam” program. “The program will be implemented for every student in the state at Level I to XII,” he said.

The minister noted that Rs 318,050 crore were allocated for school education this year and Rs 25,06 crore for higher education, totaling Rs 34,311 crore (over Rs 20,76 crore last year). Mr Lokesh said the budget allocation reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the public education system.

The minister said the availability of funds would help achieve the proposed Andhra Pradesh model education system, saying that the decision to establish the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub in Amalawati will open the door to international-level opportunities for Andhra Pradesh youth.
