Billionaire industrialist and senior White House adviser Elon Musk vowed on Sunday (March 9, 2025) to maintain Ukraine’s access to its Starlink satellite network after a fierce online clash with Poland’s outspoken foreign minister.
The United States has suspended military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine following a disastrous meeting between Donald Trump and White House Volodymyr Zelenskyy on February 28.

This has led to concerns that Trump ally Mr. Musk may cut off Ukraine’s access to his private star-stripe communication system, which is widely used by frontline troops in Kiev.
During a conversation on his X social media platform on Sunday (March 9, 2025), Musk assured that this would not be the case after an online clash with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
“It is very clear that Starlink will never close its terminal, no matter how disagree with Ukrainian policy,” Musk wrote.
“I just said that without the starlight link, Ukraine’s lines would collapse because the Russians could jam all other communications! We would never do something like this or use it as a bargaining chip.”
Trump’s administration is imposing a prelude to the peace deal by forcing Zelenskyy to sign most of Ukraine’s mineral wealth to the United States and agreeing to a ceasefire with Russia without explicit assurance.
Mr Musk supported the position and warned on Sunday that if Ukraine’s “the entire front will collapse” and if he shut down the Starlink of Kiev’s forces, it would be against a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022.
This prompted Sikorski to warn in a post on X: “Ukraine’s Starlinks are paid about $50 million a year by the Polish Ministry of Digitalization.
“The ethics of threatening the aggression victims, and if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider, we will be forced to look for other providers.”
Mr. Musk told the Polish minister: “Be quiet, little man. A small portion of the fee you pay. There is no substitute for Starik.”
Washington’s top diplomat, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, was also attracted to the exchange, accusing Sikorski of “just doing things.”
“No one stands out for Ukraine from the Starling link. Say ‘thank you’ because without the Starling link Ukraine would have lost this war a long time ago and the Russians would now border Poland.”
