Ahead of a two-day counter-terrorism conference on Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is committed to building a terror-free India and adopts a zero-tolerance policy against terror.

The conference will bring together senior police officers, officials from central agencies and experts from the fields of law, forensics and technology to discuss key issues such as the legal framework for counter-terrorism, prosecution challenges and the role of emerging technologies.
The discussion will also discuss international legal cooperation and strategies to dismantle terrorist networks across India.
“The ‘Counter-Terrorism Conference 2024’ will focus on establishing channels for coordinated action against the threat of terrorism in the spirit of a ‘whole-of-government approach’, thereby developing synergy among various stakeholders,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
“The conference is also intended to provide substantive input into future policy development. Deliberations and discussions at the two-day conference will focus on a variety of important matters, including prosecutions in counter-terrorism investigations and the evolving legal framework, sharing of experiences and good practices with emerging Challenges and opportunities related to technology, international legal cooperation and strategies to dismantle the terror ecosystem in counter-terrorism theaters across India,” it added.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers from states and Union Territories, officials from central agencies and departments responsible for counter-terrorism related issues and experts from related fields such as law, forensics and technology.
