Microsoft announced on March 8 that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Indian Development Center campus in the Noida region, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The new campus will cover 15 acres and offer 1.1 million square feet of building area. The center will focus on advancements in AI, cloud and security as Microsoft aims to greatly promote the AI division in India.
“The groundbreaking ceremony of our new Noida campus reflects Microsoft’s continued commitment to advance responsible AI innovation to empower all communities, businesses and citizens. The proposed facility will attract top talent from India and the world and enable them to innovate in AI, cloud and security, which will positively impact billions of people across the planet,” said Rajiv Kumar, managing director and president of Microsoft IDC.
Microsoft IDC also appears in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, except Noida.
“We are very grateful to the support of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Noida powers for making this vision a reality and to honor the Chief Minister of Hambur Shri Yogi Adityanath for commemorating the occasion. With the proposed expansion, we look forward to accelerating digital transformation, promoting AI skills opportunities, and strengthening deep partnerships with Uttar Pradesh and helping India become an AI-first country,” Mr Kumar said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in January. That month, Nadella announced a $3 billion investment in India to enhance its AI and cloud infrastructure. It was Microsoft’s largest expansion ever.
