UP News: To ensure women’s safety and protect them from “undesirable contact”, the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission has advised that men should not cut women’s clothes or cut their hair. The woman’s body has sent a proposal to the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government with several suggestions to eradicate male malice.
Following a meeting on October 28, a series of recommendations were made, including banning men from taking body measurements of women and installing CCTV cameras. “On October 28, at a meeting of the Women’s Commission, it was proposed that only seamstresses should measure the sizes of women’s sewn clothes and install CCTV in these areas,” the Press Trust news agency said in an interview.
She said the proposal was moved by state women commission chairperson Babita Chauhan and was supported by members present at the meeting. “We have also said that in salons, only female hairdressers should be able to serve female customers,” Agarwal said. “We feel that women are being harassed because men are in such professions. They (men) try to indulge in bad contact,” she further said.
“Some men have bad intentions as well,” she said, before adding, “Not all men have bad intentions.” However, Agarwal also emphasized that this is just a proposal for now and the Women’s Commission will then ask the state government Make laws in this regard.
