Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has expressed displeasure over the recent Article 370 resolution passed by the National Conference of Jammu and Kashmir Congress (NC), calling it a “half-hearted” effort.
Mufti said the language used in the resolution seemed hesitant and failed to adequately convey the demand for full restoration of Articles 370 and 35A.
“The wording could have been stronger. It was a half-hearted attempt and we are considering amendments to the resolution,” Mufti said at a press conference. She pointed out that while the NC’s resolution recognized the need for revoking the Jammu 2019 and Kashmir’s special status, but stopped short of explicitly condemning what she said was an unconstitutional decision.
Mufti questioned the resolution’s vague call for “dialogue on the matter” and asked: “Talk to whom?” She stressed that the NC should firmly express its demand for full restoration of Article 370 in line with the needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir Strong emotions.
The PDP chairperson stressed that her party was committed to opposing the 2019 revocation and supporting full reinstatement, in line with the PDP’s election promises.
