Maruti’s first electric SUV – e-Vitara: Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first electric SUV in India, the e-Vitara, which is essentially a production version of the eVX concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. on display.
The carmaker earlier confirmed some details about the e-Vitara, such as that it will be available in two battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh, both with a single electric motor as standard. The 49kWh version with a front-axle-mounted motor is claimed to produce 144bhp and 189Nm of torque, while the 61kWh version is available in two configurations: a single motor producing 174bhp and 189Nm, and a dual-motor AWD setup delivering 184bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The batteries will use BYD’s Blade battery technology and LFP chemistry. Although the official range has not yet been confirmed, the e-Vitara is expected to be able to travel more than 500 kilometers after being fully charged. Bigger battery options could also include Maruti’s AllGrip-e AWD system, which is available in dual-motor variants and may have a Trail mode for off-road use.
The design is very similar to the eVX concept, but slightly improved. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4,275mm, 1,800mm, and 1,635mm respectively. The wheelbase is 2,700mm and the ground clearance is 180mm.
In terms of features, it is expected to come with a floating dual-screen setup (one for infotainment and another for instrumentation), Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, dual-spoke tablet-bottom Steering wheel etc.
Additionally, it could become the first Maruti Suzuki car in India to come with ADAS suite. Prices are expected to start around Rs 20 lakh for the base variant, going up to nearly Rs 25 lakh for the top variant with AWD.
