Maruti and Vitara crash tests: Maruti Suzuki will launch its first all-electric vehicle, the E Vitara in India next month. It debuted in Eicma 2024 in November and was later exhibited at the Bharat Mobility Global 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo held in January this year. Now, before its official release, E Vitara’s crash test images have surfaced on the internet.
These images show how E Vitara is doing security testing, but reports suggest that these are internal crash tests conducted by Maruti Suzuki, rather than being evaluated through global NCAP or Bharat NCAP. Maruti has been focusing on improving the security of its lineup. Recently, the new fourth-generation Dzire was launched in November 2024, becoming the first Maruti car to receive a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
If tested by global NCAP or Bharat NCAP, the E Vitara will perform well as it will be sold in international markets including Japan and Europe as well. Maruti Suzuki announced that India will become the production center of E Vitara, which will be exported to other markets.
In terms of safety features, the E Vitara gets seven airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake (EPB), Avas (Avas) (sound car alarm system), 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. This is also the first Maruti model to offer Level 2 ADA, which includes features such as automatic emergency braking, lane assist, prevention of lane prevention, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, etc.
The E Vitara is the first model built on the Heartect-E platform and will offer two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. While the 49 kWh variant will be available exclusively in 2WD, the 61 kWh option will have a 2WD with a single motor and an AWD with a dual motor.
