Women protesters blocked the National Highway 2 in Kampki area of Manipur on Sunday (9 March 2025), the second day after witnessing violent clashes between security forces and Kuki-Zo in the area, killing one person.
The closures observed in the Churachandpur mountain area also affected the movement of the vehicle. In all Kuki-Zo areas, civil society groups will be closed for indefinitely.
These developments are being watched closely with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s plan to announce a resolution on the declaration of the rule of Manipur on parliament on Monday (10 March 2025), when the House reconvened for the second round of the budget meeting.
