Chaos in Parliament: After chaos broke out at the Assembly complex and political protests turned ugly, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday took a major step by banning lawmakers and political parties from holding demonstrations at any gate of the Assembly, sources said.
“Lod Sabha Speaker Om Birla has issued strict instructions that no political party, parliamentarian or member group shall hold any dharmas and demonstrations at the gates of the Parliament building,” a source in Parliament told news agency PTI.
The directive came on a day when the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian Alliance for Development and the Congress-led India Bloc staged rival protests at the Parliament complex over the alleged insult of BR Ambedkar, which soon turned into shoving and scuffles, leading to Two MPs were injured and a woman MP claimed to have been intimidated by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.
