The 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards held in Jaipur, Rajasthan this weekend is a spectacular celebration of Indian cinemas. The leading winner is “Laapataa Ladies”, who has attracted audiences and critics with his heartfelt storytelling and outstanding performances.
Directed by Kiran Rao, the film was awarded the coveted best picture trophy, which marked the extraordinary achievement of the team behind it. Nitanshi Goel’s excellent portrayal of Phool Kumari in “Laapataa” was named Best Actress. Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor Award for his role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3′. In the Best Director category, Kiran Rao won awards for his visionary work in “Laapataa Ladies”.
Other notable winners include Raghav Juyal, who won the best performance of the negative character in his portrayal in “The Killing” and Ravi Kishan won the best performance of the supporting character (male) for his role in “The Role in Laapataa Ladies”. The night also won the legendary Rakesh Roshan for the outstanding Indian Cinema Awards, a recognition of his significant contribution to the film industry over the years.

The IIFA Digital Awards, held on March 8, received major victories from Kriti Sanon, Jitendra Kumar, Panchayat 3′ and “Amar Singh Chamkila”. The main IIFA Awards ceremony, hosted by Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar, begins on March 9. The awards ceremony also featured a performance by Kareena Kapoor Khan, paying tribute to her legendary grandfather filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
