KL Rahul was sent to Australia as part of the India A squad and his performance has not lived up to expectations since his arrival there. In the second unofficial Test in Melbourne, Rahul was dismissed for just 10 runs off 44 balls in his opening batting. After this poor performance, he was dismissed for just 4 balls and 4 runs in the first innings of the same match. Facing spinner Corey Rocchiccioli, Rahul’s unorthodox shot caused the ball to hit the stumps, causing him to fall.

To help him regain form, the BCCI selection committee decided to send him to Australia for the India A series.
However, Rahul continued to struggle in the first Test in Australia, scoring just 14 runs in two innings. His recent dismissal was particularly disappointing, adding to a growing list of underperformers. The moment left many scratching their heads as it was arguably one of the strangest dismissals of the year.

The ongoing tournament is an audition for Rahul to secure his place in the Indian Test squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After being dropped from the home Test against New Zealand, the Indian selectors selected Rahul and stand-in wicketkeeper Dhruv Yurel for the second ‘A’ Test before joining the senior squad in Perth.
In this match, India A scored 161 runs in the first innings and defeated Australia A by 223 runs. Prasidh Krishna was the standout performer for India taking four wickets while Mukesh Kumar contributed three wickets. Khaleel Ahmed also picked up a few wickets in his 15 overs.
