Kia India recalls 1380 EV6 units for battery software updates
Kia India has announced another voluntary recall of its flagship electric crossover EV6 to address issues related to its battery management system. The recall affects 1380 units produced from March 3, 2022 to April 14, 2023, and the company aims to enhance the performance and reliability of the 12V auxiliary battery through software updates in integrated charging control units (ICCUs). sex.

The ICCU update is designed to improve the charging system of the 12V battery that powers important vehicle functions such as lighting, windshields and infotainment systems. When the high voltage battery drives the EV6, the auxiliary battery plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operation in the vehicle.
This is not the first time Kia recalls the EV6 problem. In July 2024, the company recalled 1,138 units, which could affect the performance of auxiliary batteries due to similar ICCU-related issues. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which shares its platform with EV6, is also facing a recall for the same reason.

Kia has confirmed that it will proactively contact affected customers to facilitate software updates. Owners can also contact their nearest authorized Kia dealer to schedule an appointment for updates. The service will be conducted for free.
For further assistance, Kia has provided a free phone hotline on 1800-108-5005. The company also informed the Department of Road Transport and Highways (Morth) of recalls as part of its commitment to transparency and customer safety.

Meanwhile, Kia is preparing to launch a refurbished version of the EV6 in India. The latest model is first presented on Auto Expo 2025 with refreshed styling, upgraded technology and mechanical improvements.
